The filming process "commenced" in 2021. It was very difficult to get a "classroom" to film in so ultimately it was decided to build one inside of Brian's garage using insulation foam boards. There were a total of 4 amazing additional actors (John Niesta, Alejandro Galindo, Steven Picazo, Randie Emilie), all adults with busy lives, so making sure everyone's schedules aligned was difficult. On top of that, filming inside the garage could get really hot due to lights and climate. Several breaks had to be taken just to cool off.
For outdoor shots, the majority of scenes were filmed in public locations, resulting in unwanted background noise. Additionally, there was a learning curve in operating the audio equipment, leading to some less-than-optimal audio quality. A significant amount of time was dedicated to salvaging shots and improving audio during post-production. In some cases, the audio issues were so severe that dubbing became necessary. This eventually led to the creation of CINEMEN EP2: FILM CLUB in 4K, a version of the episode featuring cleaner audio, enhanced color correction, and a shorter runtime.
Back in 2017, Brian and Azael had just graduated from highschool, were freshmen in college, and were looking to get involved in clubs. Both were passionate about film so they naturally gravitated towards Film Club! ...things didn't go too well
Flash forward to 2019: Brian and Azael find themselves parked in a car late at night, enjoying their McDonalds, discussing their next film endevour. Azael proposes the idea of creating a show based on their friend group as they strive to break into Hollywood. They both agree that the pivotal episode to kickstart their filmmaking journey should be based on their personal experience at that college film club.
